Hi Techno,

I thought you meant I could modify the HTML code of the Simple Page. Or not?

I believe you could just modify the originals within the WC program itself or just copy them to your WCHTML folder location and turn off simple and turn on custom.

I do not understand how to get started with that. And I doubt that such modifications of the Simple Page are possible for a WC user. Would be interesting though.

You just simply right-click (option-click) on the WC program and "show package contents".  Open the "Contents" folder.  Open the "Resources" folder.  Open the"WeatherCat_html" folder and voila, there they are.

Dear Irving, X-Air, Techno, and WeatherCat self-expressionists, . . .

Have yet to try the suggestions from the car guy in Orinda. But found that the caps in WeatherCatBanner are necessary. Try http://www.magpie-hill.com/WeatherCatBanner.jpg

I see that you have a banner that works and you have also added it to you forum signature.

Congratulations!  [tup]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

P.S. The trouble with being a car guy is you get stuck dealing with family cars.  Tomorrow I have to take my sister's car in . . . . .  ::)

I'm betting you have the following text in the WC Prefs->Simple Web->Text->"Notes:" area.
Code: [Select]
<H1>Data for Magpie Hill PWS  Location: Gross, Einsiedeln, Switzerland, Altitude: 908m,
Location: 47.119 N, 8.772 E.  Webcam faces SE toward Sihlsee (889m) and Schwyzer
Alps (2092m). Weather Instrument WS1080, Software on Mac: Weathercat 2.31, Camera
Canon A510, Software gphoto2,  Wunderground PWS ID icantono2, WeatherCloud</H1>
<img style=?margin: 0 auto;? src=?WeatherCatBanner.jpg?>
Just change src="WeatherCatBanner.jpg" to:
src="http://www.magpie-hill.com/WeatherCatBanner.jpg".

That should make your Banner appear just below that text near the bottom of your page.

Idunn:

If you would rather center your banner, like everything else on the page is centered, change the following line:

Code: [Select]
<img style=?margin: 0 auto;? src="http://www.magpie-hill.com/WeatherCatBanner.jpg">
to

Code: [Select]
<P><CENTER><img src="http://www.magpie-hill.com/WeatherCatBanner.jpg"> </P>

@Blick
Not sure where those "?" characters in you first 'code' display come from. They don't display in my 'code' samples. "<CENTER>" is the old, non-HTML5/CSS way of centering stuff. It is actually deprecated. It only still works because many browsers are backwards compatible... for now.

What I provided is a way of 'embedding' a tiny bit of css directly into a line of html. It's not the best way, but it helps one learn the vastly larger powers of css over the limited styling capabilities of html. CSS is well worth some study. It's really no more difficult than html, anyway.

Thanks guys. I was just copying the CENTER command from the rest of his page. Simple Web uses it to center the page contents. At least in Safari, his banner is not centered but the rest of his page is.

Stu,

I had to look that up "It's a fair cop guv." Dates back to a book called Raffles. Although don't think it really fits here.
