Data viewer/Station Time/MAC Time
« on: October 23, 2014, 10:10:54 PM »
I am not sure what the heck I have done wrong but the data viewer is showing times an hour ahead of the actual time.
The time on the station (WMR 200) is showing 08:00 and the time on the MAC (MAC Mini Server running Yosemite) is showing 08:00 but the time showing in the Weathercat (V2.0) data logger is reporting 09:00.

Any advice on what I may have set up incorrectly?

Col.

Is this just in the data viewer? If so my best guess would be some DST issue - have your clocks recently changed?

We did change over to DST recently and yes it is only the data viewer. Everything is showing the correct time except that.

I am actually noticing a lot of stage things happening in version 2.

The Rain/Hr (according to the data viewer) went up to 43.94 last night but the station itself says it only reached a maximum of 2.1
The Raw Rain values (according to the data viewer) have gone from 591.82 @ 09:49 up to 603.50 @ 09:50 and then back down to 591.82 @ 09:51
The UV values (according to the data viewer) state there was a reading of 7 at 10:16 but it has been raining all morning so there is no way that is correct and the station is saying that it has been 0 for the last 10 hrs.
The Ext. Temp (according to the data viewer) says it was 13.50 @ 09:58 then @ 09:59 it went to 22.5 then @ 10:00 it was back to 13.60

Some VERY weird behaviour going on :o

I even have an entry in the Raw Rain now as ∞
And now getting a lot of  "Weather data not ready - retrying in 30 seconds." errors.

And in addition to the stage things you've noticed, Buck, I've been seeing some strange things.   [biggrin]

Sent some screen shots to Stu and he wrote back that it appeared to be a DST conversion problem but I don't think that was the cause since the times weren't off by an even hour. I guess maybe we'll need to start a gremlin thread here on the forum.

Sounds like your console is losing touch with the sensors - the messages from the console are checksummed, so the data you're seeing there is what the console is sending. If the checksum fails, the comms errors count will increment.

The log message should tell you which data its waiting for on the 'Weather data not ready messages' - if there are none, it hasn't received anything. My first thought would be towards the batteries in the console and sensors.

I can understand that would cause those sort of errors but I only changed all the batteries 4 weeks ago and these problems weren't happening in version 1.x
What it doesn't explain is why I am getting entries in the data like a rain rate of 43.94 when it has not rained in the last 1.25 hrs, UV readings of 7.0 when it is heavily overcast, a raw rain entry of ∞ and temperatures of 24.40 when it is only 14.7 (according to the station display).

There haven't been any changes to the WMR200 driver apart from adding a rain multiplier, so there isn't anything I can think of that would be different between version 1 and 2.

The only other thing I can think of is if the console is sending an old record with a current time-stamp. Can you relate any of the data to a previous record?

However, the 'data not ready message' is given when a particular sensor hasn't sent any data for a few minutes - if the batteries are new, is there any (new) interference in the area?

I have reverted back to 1.24 for a while to see what the data shows.
Will leave it run for a few hours and see the results.

Here's an example of a minor irritant Stu since you're monitoring this thread:

If the 24-hour clock format is selected, and you happen to be a night owl, the time for the first hour after midnight reads out as 24xx hours instead of the correct 00xx hours.

Ok it hasn't been running for an hour yet but I thought I would show you something:
This is the line from the log.....
11:23:00 27-Oct-2014:  Temperature: 17?C  Dewpoint: 7?C  Windchill: 17?C Pressure: 1006 hPa  Av. Windspeed: 20 km/h from West. Current Conditions: Scattered Clouds

And this is the data that just got put into the database:
Time 12:23
Ext. Temp 15.80
Dew Point 10.3
Wind Chill 15.1
Pressure 1005
Av. Wind Spd 14.76

As you can see that data is completely different and according to the stats, there have been no Comms or Sensor errors yet.

Something is REALLY screwy in my system!
Version 1.24 has now been running for over an hour and even though the status is 100% with no errors.
Most fields values are all over the place according to the data editor.
None of this happened before the upgrade to v2 (and then the subsequent downgrade back to v1.24)

Do I need to wipe the database and start again from scratch?

Have now been running v1.24 (again) for the last 4 hrs and this strange thing shows in the data viewer/editor:

The first image was snapped at 14:11.24 and the next image was snapped at 14:38.33
Check out the differences in the values for the same times.

First, reset the console and logger, make sure the date and time is set correctly. If still doing it try restoring your data from a time before the problem occurred (launch WeatherCat and immediately hit the 'ctrl' key to get to the backup manager). If the problem still persists, try deleting just the October data file - this will leave you interpolated data back to the beginning of October as it isn't possible to command a download from the logger on the WMR200.
