Greetings All,
I am still going strong on my La Crosse 2300. For a while the rain gauge sensor has been down. On the web I located a guy in Athens, Greece, Dimitri, who has a great weather website
http://users.otenet.gr/~meteo/index.html and shows how to repair the rain gauge and how to make other things. I wrote to him and ordered the necessary reed switches from another website. Got the reed installed but made a soldering error and ruined the rain gauge. Again I wrote him and he sent me a website in France for a replacement rain gauge,
http://www.nouveauxobjets.com/2300-16.php I checked it out and found their prices lower than anywhere else in the world for LC 2300 spare parts. It was also fun sorting out the French with the help of Google's translator. Anyway I got the rain gauge ordered and on the way to me in Switzerland. I checked out the ordering possibility to the US, and was amused to find it can be given on the form only under "other countries". Anyway sending a package to the US, such as the 2300 anemometer- wind vane assembly costs about $25. So if you want to keep your La Crosse 2300 going, this source for parts might be one way to do it.
Good weathering, Irving
