Feels-Like vs Windchill
« on: December 08, 2019, 12:51:34 PM »
One consideration for a new feature is to consider making a change from the older "windchill" and "heat index" temperature designations to the newer single (increasingly adopted in the USA) "feels-like"temperature.

Why "feels like"? What about "felt air temperature", "apparent temperature" or "real feel"? Perhaps the numerous "names" for a relatively subjective number is why it is not in WC? We may hear "feels like" in the USoA, but weather seems to occur ignore borders. :)

Personally, I feel like (no pun intended, of course) it's just part of the dumbing down of most TV "weather people". Of course, it would be rare to find any citizen and maybe many "weather people" who know the actual formula to compute Wind Chill and Heat Index. Many claim these new terms are more useful for the "average" person, I feel like that may be just anecdotal... Certainly, many people use "feel" information more than "facts" in their daily lives. [rolleyes2]
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

When I want the "real deal"  I use THSW,  that is the effect of temperature, humidity, solar and wind
