Note that the forum software has changed the original:
"[url]http..."
to
"[url=http://ww...27a08]http://ww...27a08"
Even using the forum's 'link' button inserts only:
[url][/url]
Apparently, a url should be inserted (along with a "=") between the "[url" and the "]" and then any desired display text can be inserted between the beginning and ending url 'tags'.
Not quite. After testing, the software does insert the "=" and the url into the url 'open tag' even if the user inserts the url between the opening and closing url 'tags'. Thus, adding styling and explanatory, helpful, shortening url "text" may require re-editing the link. I can only assume the software is either old or trying to avoid the more usual and easier methods of constructing links for ease of use by the author and the viewer. Owe wel, wie kant awl bee purfekt!
