Bonjour from Aquitaine
« on: November 16, 2013, 09:29:40 PM »
Greetings from the rolling countryside of Aquitaine, France. I have just moved from a dead PC (with 5 years of data, mostly preserved in Wunderground). Being a Mac household, i found WC to be the better solution and very easy to get going, just a couple of hours. I tried it first on a MacBook and then moved it 'live' to a dedicated Mini. The transfer went well, the only issues being that I lost the custom graphs and banner data (not the image, though). Easy enough to fix. I also tried the Cronnix stop/start but the ftp password got lost on restart, so I just use the MacOs scheduled restart as nothing else is running. Integration with Saratoga worked well. One outstanding query is how to get the good/bad data counts visible over the net. Any thoughts welcome.

Dear Eski and WeatherCat Welcoming committee,

First things first, . . . . Welcome to the WeatherCat forum!

Greetings from the rolling countryside of Aquitaine, France.

Sounds wonderful!  You might want to add yourself to the member map:

Actually there is a Wiki with additional information on WeatherCat: http://wiki.trixology.com

You'll find instructions on how to move WeatherCat from one Mac to another here:

Well, there is no way to do this within WeatherCat.  However, there are some AppleScripts I wrote to do this sort of thing:

http://athena.trixology.com/index.php?topic=984.0;topicseen

They are definitely a bit clumsy to use and have no graphical user interface.  However, if you don't mind "getting your hands dirty" in code, they do work nicely.  Here is the station console for my own station:

Hope this helps,

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I followed these but somehow lost the banner items and customised graphs. Must have got a directory wrong somewhere along the line.

That is just what I was looking for, so I'll see if I can get it to work!

Now to tackle a failing super cap on the VP!  http://athena.trixology.com/Smileys/default/sad.gif

Many thanks again,

John

but not sure if I got the smileys in right, but it's coffee time:

Hello Eski,
you can make visible good/bad data counts via the tag DALLC$ - this one is replaced with all dials and comms counts. Here you can see all possible tags available for WeatherCat: http://live.trixology.com/custom/

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Reinhard

Many thanks, Reinhard. I followed Edouard's recommendations and have his sciprts working. My only problem now is that the VP super cap has given up! Toujours les probl?mes, but all fun really! [lol2]

Cheers, John
