webcam questions
« on: April 08, 2016, 06:26:33 PM »
I have Foscam IP cameras.   H264 format.  I would like to put an image on my website, however  I am not sure how to do that.

If I have the camera ftp directly from the camera, they send time stamped versions and in a short time I have quite a pile.  I see that there is a routine in the WeatherCat , but I am not sure how to set the IP camera.  If I just put in the IP address it doesn't work. If I use my dyndns.org:port   it doesn't work   I think I am missing something here.

Do Foscam's work?

Or   if not , does anyone have a program that snags one ip shot and ftps it to a site. I use Unet Cams and it doesn't allow that.

You can have WC pull the image by making it point to the camera's URL (http://<ip-address>/...). You haven't specified which model Foscam you have, but possibly the URL -- the part needed after the IP address -- is listed here: https://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=foscam

Foscams work.

Make sure you can see your camera from off your network.

Make a new user that is a GUEST only, so no one can screw with it.

Setup the user name and password to whatever you want, like login = wxcat and password = wxcat.

Now open WXCat preferences and go to WebCam and enable webcam.

Go to File from URL and enter: http://www.yourdomain.com:port/snapshot.cgi?user=yourusername&pwd=youruserpassword&t=

Mine is:

http://www.xxxxxxx.xxx:8085/snapshot.cgi?user=wxcat&pwd=wxcat&t=

Let us know if that works.

That's your local IP address on your home network. If you can see it there, you should be set because WeatherCat is also on your local network. Do you see an image?

With JosBaz's link, make sure to enter the port number after the IP.

Also, what do you normally use to view your cameras or have you never used them before? Can you view them with an App or URL?

Good. Put that in the WXCat preference location and see what happens.

Being new,  where do I find that.
I am on the tab for webcam   What do I do from here.  If I paste it as I have it on the attachment, when I click on view, I get an error that the remote image can't be viewed.

Check the radio button next to the "File From URL" entry.

Lower Right, click the Show Video Preview button.

What shows in the preview box that appears?

Sorry to hear that.

You'll have to wait and see if Tier two or three picks up on this thread.
