No changes from the 'Little Rascal' we've already tested, is there? Just updating the additional files and folders?

Here's a link to the WC Wiki page discussing how to update the app. Look at the section labeled "Upgrading to new version". It is quite a simple process, only four steps. However, I would suggest one additional step. I'll call it step 1.a. After you Quit WeatherCat, either:
  • Move the old version to another folder
  • - - - - - - - OR - - - - - - -
  • Add the word "old" at the very end of the title and before the ".app" extension
That will make it easy to revert to the old version should there be any problem running the new one with your other apps and OS.

Let us know if you succeed. (Re: WeatherCat Version 2.4.4)

Dear John, X-Air, and WeatherCat faithful,

I am running WXCat 2.41, I just Download WeatherCat (V2.4.4, 24 MB).
I do not know how to install the latest version.
I do not want to loose all my configurations.

X-Air has given you the basic tip, but in a nutshell all you need to do is replace the WeatherCat application file.  Your configuration files and data are stored in other places on your computer so they won't be at all effected.

Let us know if you succeed in upgrading or if you run into some other problem.

Cheers, Edouard

Thanks again. Really appreciated it.

I 'cheat' and take a window capture (shift-command-4) of the Gauge creation window for every one I create. That way, if I ever 'lose' one, I have all the details available to re-create it. Doesn't hurt to use window captures for prefs windows, either. [tup] As the old proverb says, "A window capture in time saves lots of experimenting." or something like that...  :)

I'm glad that you were able to upgrade relatively smoothly

I only lost 5 round instruments but I manage to place them back

However, I'm puzzled by this.  You shouldn't have had the gauges disappear like that.  Can you tell us how you put them back?  Were they simply not being displayed or did you have to create them again from scratch?

Congratulations on the update!  :)

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hi again.

They simply disapeared from the front panel as you can see them back in my picture.
Wind, pressure, wind direction etc...

I went to the menu bar and click on each of them individually in the drop down menu and they came back. They seem to have kept there color so it was not a big deal, just a little spooky.

Replace them in the right order and voil?.

I did not made the other updates before because I was scared to loose everything but now and with you generous help, I feel more confident.

Thanks again, you made my day.

Okay, that is the sort of situation that does happen with WeatherCat from time to time and indeed is very easy to correct.  Glad to hear you have your display back to what you intended.

the last time I updated the app,  I had a boatload of problems and since this version is a maintenence  I think I will wait incase the next version has some feature changes.  Mine works fine as is.

With a PC  I can find the offending file pretty easy, with the mac, it is an adventure.    I have the fusion drive, so I think holding off on anything until Apple feels the pressure to correct its file system for fusion .  When and when?   no clue.

WeatherCat is a nice program, it has always puzzled me why more weather station dealers do not support the Apple system, it is a virtual gold mine and they are missing it.  keep up the great work.

I use both, WCat and WeatherNsoop on my Imac.

I enjoy the radar window in WXSnoop.
WxC has a more flexible way for modifying windows as we please.
WXSnoop ver 2 as far as I am concern was more beautiful and the instruments were bigger.
But 99% of the time I use WxCat as I can watch my outside camera to peep on the weather.

You are right about not having more Wx software for the Apple community. At least, we now have a very good one.
Cheers.
