Dear WeatherCat sports fans,

Sorry for not replying to any posts today.  It was a very l o n g day . . . . . Explanation will have to wait for tomorrow.

However, there was some news from France that I hope Stu was happy to hear:

After waiting 58 years to qualify for a major soccer tournament, the Wales team won their first match in Bordeaux, France!  Congratulations to the Wales soccer team!  [cheer]

Why do I know this?  Well my Mom still pays close attention to the news from France and the country is in a horrible mess to say the least.   :(  Still even through outrageous strikes and fear of new terrorist attacks, the French are trying their best to host this tournament.  The latest move to maintain order: draconian restrictions on liquor sales.  Lots of fans are going to be sorry they left home and French liquor store owners aren't going to make the profits they were expecting.

Nonetheless, Mom noticed this Welsh victory and thought of Stu.  At this house WeatherCat is truly a family possession!

Congratulations once more to the Wales soccer team!  [cheer]

Dear WeatherCat soccer fans,

Well, the bad news is that the Welsh soccer team was defeated by Portugal in the semi-finals.  Nonetheless to reach the semi-finals is certainly no small achievement for a team's first appearance in the tournament.  The team is to be welcomed home as heroes and it is indeed well deserved:

 ;) . . . But of course!  The French understood that it is terribly impolite to win the tournament that you are hosting.  In the end, the French only did what was the proper thing to do - rather!  [lol2]
