We were on the Elbe last year and past by Decin, but did not see this stone. This year we did experience the problems of low water levels on the Danube.
Thanks for sharing this info! It appears these droughts were caused by what is now referred to as the
"little age age." It is interesting to note that the recent droughts in Europe are not considered as extreme as those of the middle ages. The same observation has been made about North and South America during the same time frame. Of course there isn't human collected data to verify this, but tree-ring data does seem to bare this out. It is during one of those climatic extremes that the Maya are thought to have been driven to collapse.
