Dear X-Air and WeatherCat observers of the world around you,

Karl (https://www.npr.org/2019/08/19/752328453/the-end-is-nigh-for-fogcam-billed-as-the-internets-oldest-running-webcam?utm_source=npr_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=20190820&utm_campaign=&utm_term=&utm_id=1982930) will no longer be viewable after Aug, 25. RIP! :o

Thanks for the head's up.  That seems really short-sighted on the part of San Francisco State University.  The publicity alone would seem to be sufficient for the university to embrace the webcam.  Alas, academia doesn't always live up to it purported claims of wisdom.

Oh well, . . .  Edouard

Breaking News: Following the extensive news coverage about the planned ending of FogCam, San Francisco State University has asked to preserve and run it indefinitely.

Official Statement: San Francisco State University can confirm it has agreed to continue maintaining the FogCam, which prevents shutdown of the service. San Francisco State University has supported operation of the FogCam since its inception in 1994, a major technology milestone at the time. The University looks forward to continuing the webcam?s legacy.
ThU5:-)
Even the interwebs, as young as it is wants to save some history!
Title: Glad to hear it! (Re: Another webcam stops!)

Dear X-Air and WeatherCat Internet Historians,

. . . .
Official Statement: San Francisco State University can confirm it has agreed to continue maintaining the FogCam, which prevents shutdown of the service.

Thanks for sharing the happy ending.  It would have been really hard-headed for the university to do anything else.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
