Another problem after El Capitan
« on: October 03, 2015, 06:40:01 AM »

Hello,

After installing El Capitan i cannot connect to my Davis Monitor 2. I am using a Keyspan serial to usb 2 port adapter that worked fine through Yosemite. I have tried unplugging the usb cable to no avail.
There are two choices that show in the dropdown  neither of which give me the Keyspan comm connection choice. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Hello Tom,
It looks to be the same problem as reported at:
http://athena.trixology.com/index.php?topic=1850.0

You'll need to check for updated drivers for 10.11.

Thanks, Stu.
I have a Keyspan USA 28xb ,a twin port adapter. I could not find any updated software for that particular model. I have an old Monitor 2. Can anyone recommend a serial port adapter that will work with El Capitan? My iMac is a late 2009 model with usb 2.

Thanks.
Tom

I found an update to 10.10 same as the above referenced user found. It was supposed to be good for an number of Keyspan devices including my USAX28 B.
Unplugged the device, installed the update, and plugged the usb cable back it and my computer promptly had a kernel panic. Tried this twice with the same result found in the crash report.
Any ideas?

If you have a TimeMachine backup, you can restore from that to get back to your previous system (see https://support.apple.com/kb/PH18848?locale=en_US).

If not, you can boot in safe mode and remove the driver - see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
