Test script to try for yourself. (Re: AppleScript users)
« Reply #15 on: April 05, 2012, 11:29:50 PM »
Dear WeatherCat AppleScript fans,

Okay, I made another pass over all this and we can take this question one step further.  Here is a link to a test AppleScript using this Satimage osax system as a primary way to localize strings and uses the UNIX command as a backup.  You can download it here:

http://www.canebas.org/LWC/AppleScripts/printf%20localized%20string%20test.scptd.zip

If what I claim is true, when you open the script and then click on the green Run button you should get the following string at the bottom of your AppleScript Editor:

This script has a French translation built-in so those of you using your computer in French should get the resulting string in my "college try" French translation.

Could folks try downloading this AppleScript and telling me what happens?  If I'm correct, the script should work on any computer you'all have.  Please do let me know if this is true!!

Thanks in advance for you all your assistance on these pesky AppleScripts!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Howdy Tony, John, and WeatherCat AppleScript fans,

Thanks for the feedback.  It is supposed to work!!  However, the folks at MacScripters have been giving me a hard time.  Nonetheless, even there I've gotten a little support for my cause over there at last.  [bounce]

I hate to say this, but it's working  [lol2]

;) Don't let it bug ya' man - success is easy to get used to!!  [lol2]

Failure on the other hand . . . .  [banghead]

Thanks again,  Edouard  [cheers1]

Howdy WeatherCat AppleScript fans,

Thanks Steve and Gerard for the additional confirmation.  I think this is a reasonable solution to this problem, so I'll update my library code accordingly.

Thanks again everyone!!
