IP Data Logger
« on: November 17, 2014, 03:43:59 AM »
I was gone all day today and when I returned tonight I found an item in the log that said:

11/16/14 10:45:46.586 AM WeatherCat[404]: Cannot connect to host: 10.0.1.30.

This is the IP address of my WeatherLinkIP data logger. Nothing got uploaded until I came home and clicked into WeatherCat to make it the live window. As soon as I did, it started a historic download from the data logger.

I then got this message:

11/16/14 6:56:03.019 PM WeatherCat[404]: WeatherCat was asleep for 490 minutes and missed 490 updates. Re-initializing.

Is there anything I can check other than unplugging and reinserting each end of the ethernet cable and the data logger itself?

Looks like your machine went to sleep.

On a new install of the OS, it'll probably be set to sleep after a certain time - check it in the Energy Saver pane of the System Prefs. Set it so computer sleep is set to 'Never' (you can set the Display Sleep' to whatever you like).

I'm not back on my clean install of OS X 10.10 yet. Running on a different iMac. Definitely was set to never sleep. However, I did discover there was a brief power outage on the mains. Even though I running on a UPS, I now assume this "going to sleep" business was somehow tied to the outage.

John, before you get too far, 10.10.1 was just released. I'm downloading the iOS update now, and then installing 10.10.1
