Dear LesCimes and WeatherCat station record keepers,

Canebas weather station had no real records broken in 2014.  There is claim about number of sunshine hours, but that was in March.  That's got to be mistake somehow.  The only odd thing is that we had terrible drought for the wet season 2013-2014.  However, if you look at the calendar year 2014, we actually went over average.  In 2014 we got 27.26" of rain while the average year is 25.4".  All the rain we got this December more than made up for the lack of rain in the first part of 2014.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

That is odd that you should have above average rainfall in a drought year. But, beware of statistics, as we all know. Lots of rain all at once doesn't go far towards alleviate long term drought. Hope you all get more consistent rainfall.

PS I notice that this topic might be more appropriate for "Weather Observations" instead of General Weather. Moderator might consider moving it there.

In Europe, 2014 was the warmest year on record. In the Netherlands, the previous record (from 2006 and 2007) was obliterated.
The below diagram is showing the average annual temperature from my weather-station, compared to the value presented by the official Royal Dutch institute of Meteorology (KNMI).
So 2014 was by far the warmest year since I started measuring 12 years ago, but it doesn't stop there: I read somewhere it was probably the warmest year in Europe since 1500(!).  [sweat2]

Seeing that data "first hand" is quite impressionable. Amazing to see such differences in annual averages. Thanks for posting the graphs.

Breaking all sorts of annual records as we move through 2015 - of course there is only three weeks of data from which to draw. This is what we weather nuts do for fun.  ;)

Always fun to compare extremes around the country. Amazing that Utah has an annual high of less the 90?. I always thought that area was hot desert, reaching temps over the 100's easily.

You are right about much of the state, but I live at elevation, about 8,300 feet, in the Wasatch Mountains. Our weather patterns here are quiet pleasant, assuming you like ice and snow.
