Yup, Des Moines isn't at the end of the universe but you can see it from here.
Funny story.. (or not). I had been running Weather Display for years with no problems on my Gateway computer. I also have been backing up data as well. Well two weeks ago, I went to do some work on my PC, and it smelled funny as well as wouldn't boot. I figured out that the motherboard gave it up and rather than buy a new one and all that I should get something different.
The wife knew that I also have an iPhone, ipod, and iPad. So why not consider going to the dark side of the force, jump ship. I had been in to Apple early this year when the wife needed a computer for her graduate school classes, and settled on a Macbook pro. I liked the self contained unit as I am not working (retired, put out to pasture, I taught 30 years Science, 3 years university chemistry and 20 of those years, youth at risk, court ordered kids in physics, algebra, geometry and Earth science) and I wasn't writing lesson plans or reports ad nauseum.
So I went with the Mac as it looked like fun. I got the latest one out with El Capitan, 4k video.... I have a wireless key board, mouse and eventually added a wireless keypad. Got the printer to play nice, the scanner and then when I went to my weather software. I found that Weatherlink is terribly lacking in what it does, other than the basic stuff.
I have a Vantage Pro Plus with a 24hr Fars, fully populated soil moisture/temp station; 4 temp/humid stations, envoy, console.. So when I found that the Weatherlink wouldn't play nice with what I had. I called Davis. Davis said in so many words that they had no intention of doing anything in the near future to correct that problem. The Weatherlink IP is on the console so it does upload everything to their site, but their desktop doesn't.
I also had been using and still use Weatherdisplay for Mac, and it is fine . However, with what I needed I decided to look around at different software. This seems to be what I need. I can name the different variables, export the data and that I use with my weather analysis that I have been doing for several years .
I had to change my webpage until i sort things out, and have a program that does the work. I will add to it as time goes on. I like this new program because right now, that I am not ftp ing anything anywhere that might add some strain on the 8G ram.
Anyway, here I are.... I do have a lot of experience with the Vantage pro. I have been the route the WMII the VP1 and now the VP2+
Here is my URL and it will be changing as I glean data, process it and add to my site. right now it is pretty basic.
