Daily Sunshine Calculation
« on: April 22, 2014, 05:10:06 AM »
Have the algorithms changed since a year ago?  We've had some spectacularly sunny days in the Northeast with no clouds, and on April 20th, 2013 WeatherCat say we had 8.7 hours of sun vs nearly an hour less (and its been a much colder March and April, so the trees haven't even budded, let alone leafing out).

Same thing at my station in Maine.  Both are in the exact same location.

So I cleaned the sensors with a lens cleaning cloth and the calculation today was similar to last year at this time.  Something to add to the regular maintenance schedule.

Hi JG and WeatherCat fans,

So I cleaned the sensors with a lens cleaning cloth and the calculation today was similar to last year at this time.  Something to add to the regular maintenance schedule.

I didn't remember if that was on our suggested weather station maintenance list so I took a look:

Yup, item #3!  [tup]

I remembered to put in on the list, but honestly I can't remember when was the last time I actually cleaned the sensor window!  :-[

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
