...maybe we need sister trail, Hike the Mississippi River!
I prefer the Natchez Trace, it's a paved road... for cars! I dare say hiking the Mighty Muddy is exactly why the Trace was created! ;)

Hiking is not something I'd recommend for a few months. I'd like to wait until the Heat Index is lower than the triple digits we've had for the past few weeks! [sweat2]

Am with you on that! Am planning a fall trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway - driving, not hiking.

That will be a great trip, but you'll miss <this fantastic, beautiful. and engineering marvel> on the Trace! Our Grandkids used to live just a bit south and east of this bridge and we got to see it in many different weather conditions!

Oops! My bad, I thought you'd already left when you made the post a couple of weeks ago! I've been collecting, archiving, and writing all my questions and planned on dumping them on you any day now!!! Just let me know where I can reach you when you're in the most restfull place on the vacation and I can bring you back to the "daily grind" very quickly! You are welcome! [goofy]

On second thought, just have a great time and don't worry about a thing! Enjoy a well-earned vacation! [tup] Just be careful driving around on the Continent, they use the wrong side of the road, you know! [rolleyes2] [lol]

We did have a great time thanks! Even better, the weather cooperated as well - only got two days rain!

Howdy Stu and WeatherCat welcome wagon, . . .

Welcome back Stu!  [tup]

We did have a great time thanks! Even better, the weather cooperated as well - only got two days rain!

Any highlights?  Did the Rover and caravan perform well?

Any grand Guinness discoveries? . . .  [beer]

Hope that returning to work isn't too much of a rude awakening!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Thanks Edouard - yes, the Rover performed perfectly - two thousand miles in two weeks without missing a beat (probably down to the vast sums of money spent on new parts this year :) ) at an average of 21 MPG (which is pretty good towing a 1.5 tonne 'van).

Found some really good Guinness in North Yorkshire (along with some good cheese obviously), fair-to-middling on the south coast, but again pretty good in Devon (and Cornwall) :)

"Devon" means "clotted cream" to my wife! [cheer] I'll take the scones, with or without the jam! [rolleyes2]

Dear Stu, X-Air, and WeatherCat vacationers,

Thanks Edouard - yes, the Rover performed perfectly - two thousand miles in two weeks without missing a beat (probably down to the vast sums of money spent on new parts this year :) ) at an average of 21 MPG (which is pretty good towing a 1.5 tonne 'van).

Glad the Rover continues to serve you so well!  GM sure made a huge mistake in just abandoning that Buick and Pontiac engine and selling the molds to Land Rover.  I'm not surprised that GM tried to buy it back!

Found some really good Guinness in North Yorkshire (along with some good cheese obviously), fair-to-middling on the south coast, but again pretty good in Devon (and Cornwall) :)

Oh well, I suppose you can't find great Guinness everywhere, otherwise you would have no reason to leave home!  ;D

Glad you had a great time  [tup], but also glad to you have back on the forum!  [bounce]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hmm, I always thought a Guiness was a Guiness. Didn't know there was good Guiness and not so good. Shows I've got a lot to learn.
