...with no announcement or fanfare, Apple has made the current
iLife and iWork apps entirely free for all users.
The desktop apps have been "free" for some time, one way or another. Now the iOS versions are also "free".
  • GarageBand for macOS (requires 10.10 Yosemite) and iOS (requires iOS
     10.2)
  • iMovie for macOS (requires 10.11.2 El Capitan) and iOS (requires iOS
     9.3)
  • Keynote for macOS (requires 10.12 Sierra) and iOS (requires iOS 10)
  • Numbers for macOS (requires 10.12 Sierra) and iOS (requires iOS 10)
  • Pages for macOS (requires 10.12 Sierra) and iOS (requires iOS 10)
I've downloaded/installed Numbers to my iPhone. My iPad can't run the higher iOS versions needed. And I'm not sure any of the others have any appeal, especially on such a small screen. OTOH, if you've been holding out on buying the iOS versions... [tup]

Be sure you really need them before installing Keynote, Pages, or Numbers on your iOS device. They require a lot of memory. Here's what they use on my iPhone 6s:

Keynote 670 MB
Pages 446.1 MB
Numbers 342.2 MB

Nice apps and the price is right, but don't just install them because they are free.

Of course, they really aren't free, anyway. [rolleyes2] You have to have purchased hardware that will run the appropriate OS. I have exactly one Numbers spreadsheet that I can see using when I'm away from my iMac. It is now available, with a password required to access it, on my iPhone.

Dear X-Air, Grand, and WeatherCat life and work productivity seekers,

Thanks for sharing this info with those of us who are way too busy to keep up with news like this!

As if I didn't have enough trouble with my trusty wagon, the junior Buick in the household is exhibiting some sort of an electrical problem.  [banghead]

These days it feels like if I didn't have bad luck - I wouldn't have any luck at all!  ::)
