How to locate and save crash reports of WeatherCat.
« on: July 25, 2015, 10:49:11 PM »
Dear WeatherCat fans,

Even WeatherCat crashes every now and then, when that happens, it is extremely helpful to Stu (Stuart Ball, WeatherCat developer) to get the actual file that OS X generates when a crash occurs.  These files have names like this: WeatherCat_2013-04-05-070024_Odysseus.crash  If you send Stu these files, they can be loaded into the Xcode development environment so that Stu can much more effectively troubleshoot the problem.  The following web page provides a procedure for allowing you to get a copy of the crash report so that you can send it to Stu:

https://support.apple.com/guide/console/reports-cnsl664be99a/mac

In order to make a copy of the crash report, you will need to use the Choose File > Reveal in Finder feature of the Console.  Once the crash report is revealed in a Finder window, you can then make a copy of it to send to Stu or attach to a forum posting.

If possible try to get the actual binary crash report file, it will save Stu time and allow him to instead make WeatherCat even better!  [tup]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
