Daily wind
« on: January 06, 2018, 09:20:16 PM »
Hi.

On my data display, there is a section: WeatherCat controller window indicating:  Daily wind 192.8 KM

What does it mean? Cannot find any info in the user manual.

Thanks

You are referring to Wind Run. Wind run is a meteorological term used to categorize or determine the total distance (or amount) of the traveled wind over a period of time. The readings are collected using your anemometer. Wind run can help to determine the rate of evaporation of moisture over a particular area. Wind run is the amount of wind that passes by the weather station today, expressed in kilometres. Another way of thinking about the wind run is that if you could mark a specific ?piece? of wind and measure how many km from the place you marked it would it travel before midnight, you will have calculated the wind run for today. A wind blowing at three kilometres per hour for an entire hour would give a wind run of three kilometres.

Dear John, Blick, and WeatherCat power users,

If you want to learn more about the wind run gauge, it is described on page 36 of the current WeatherCat manual.

Cheers, Edouard
