Help with an AppleScript Growl test please?
« on: May 06, 2012, 11:15:55 PM »
Dear WeatherCat fans,

I've run some tests with the recommended implementation for AppleScripts that can use any version of Growl and . . . gotten one report that it doesn't work on either 1.2 or 1.3.  Well, at least it is . . . consistent!  :(

This code works fine on my machine running Growl 1.2 and it is supposed'ta work on even the new Growl (1.3) that is on the Mac App store.  I've written a tiny AppleScript application that is supposed to work anywhere, even if you don't have Growl installed at all.  If you don't have Growl, it will put up a dialog box saying so.  Otherwise it should produce a small Growl notification.

Running it couldn't be simpler: just double-click.  It will run anywhere, no need to park it in special folder.  Could folks give it a quick try and tell me what happens?  I'm especially curious to know if it works with the new Growl.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!!  [bounce]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hi Tony, Steve, and WeatherCat fans,

Thanks for the confirmation.  Okay, this coding should work fine.

I think I have a solution to upgrading all the AppleScripts to work with Growl 1.3 . . . . now if I could only find the time to do it!!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hi Edouard -  [interesting]

Worked with Growl 1.2.2 on Lion 10.7.3. But then I installed WC Status Growler in order to get WC Web data Uploader working and the test script does not work.......

Hi JC,

Sorry, but I'm being hammered with too many things to do and in this case checking WeatherCat and MacWeather forum means I'm further behind.  I left a reply to your question over there:
