Title: macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.4 Beta warning about WeatherCat
Post by: Hugh Whalen on January 25, 2018, 02:08:07 PM
Last night my system automatically upgraded my machine to macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.4 Beta. It now issues a warning the first time you launch a 32 bit app. For WeatherCat it said: "WeatherCat"  may affect the performance of your Mac. The developer of this app needs to update it to improve it's capability.

See the attached screen shot which shows the same message for My Harmony Helper.

As I understand it, 32 bit apps will not be supported in the next version of osMac. There was a thread on this but I cannot see any information as to when/if WeatherCat will be upgraded to 64 bit. Does anyone have any more information on this?

Hugh

A search with "64 bit" turned up several threads with that exact text. Perhaps the most informative is this one:

Straight from the devs mouth/keyboard!

there will be a 64 bit version - this will be WeatherCat 3, which I expect to ship in the first quarter of 2018

Ah. I had searched 32 bit and not found that.

 [blush]

Thanks for the information!

Forum searches, no matter the brand, are usually not up to Google standards. And they often have different ways to specify multiple wurdz or groups. [banghead] [rolleyes2] [lol]

Dear Hugh, X-Air, Weatheraardvark, and WeatherCat "impatient types,"

As I understand it, 32 bit apps will not be supported in the next version of osMac. There was a thread on this but I cannot see any information as to when/if WeatherCat will be upgraded to 64 bit. Does anyone have any more information on this?

X-Air has already provided the key information, but from the same posting by Stu there is one more snippet for the impatient:

Finally, I would expect the first beta to be available January 2018.

We are running out of month, perhaps the public beta will be released slightly later than the end of January, but it should be available to all WeatherCat "feature-oholics" soon.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I heard only 64 will be supported.  With that I am hoping a work around or go with what is there.   I am concerned that in September 2016  the apple file system that would produce better resource allocation would come out eventually for the fusion drives. Of course  nothing has come out or hinted on progress.  I am guessing it is a dead item.  Oh I asked on one of their forums and got my ass handed to me for even asking.

So  with all this, perhaps software that is 32 bit   needs to be upgraded to 64  and I am guessing that is why Davis isn't going to upgrade their WL for mac or Windows but to go with the Ip and use a cloud based thing.
