Number of Samples in Database
« on: September 14, 2017, 06:50:17 PM »
I am asking myself if there is an easy way to display the number of collected datasets - in terms of WeatherCat called Samples? I am curious about that because I am collecting since March 2008 with WeatherCat and its famous predecessor LWC.

Curious minds...  [goofy]

Dear Reinhard and WeatherCat curious types, . . . .

I am asking myself if there is an easy way to display the number of collected datasets - in terms of WeatherCat called Samples? I am curious about that because I am collecting since March 2008 with WeatherCat and its famous predecessor LWC.

 ;) . . . . . Remember, . . . . . you're askin' for it! . . . .  lol(1)

I don't know of any way to generate a simple number, but the number of samples is the number of lines in all the data files that have been generated by WeatherCat (and it's predecessor.)  I can't think of it off-hand, but there must be some UNIX tools that will return the number of lines in a file.  Subtract the comments at the top and sum up for all the files, that would be the total number of samples for the station's operation.

Cheers, Edouard
