Title: Disabling UV Settings
Post by: monymony on October 09, 2017, 10:34:56 PM
Hello All,

It's been a while since I have posted here!  I am having a small issue where even though I do not have a UV sensor the API used by Meteotemplate to pull data from WeatherCat is picking up a reading.  While I do not see anything, is there any settings with WC that I need to disable to make sure any attempt by the software to report a UV reading turned off.  I don't think there is but want to make sure I am not missing anything.

Thanks all!

Dear Jay and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

It's been a while since I have posted here!  I am having a small issue where even though I do not have a UV sensor the API used by Meteotemplate to pull data from WeatherCat is picking up a reading.

That really shouldn't be happening.  If you don't have an UV sensor, WeatherCat should recognize that UV data isn't valid.  You can double-check this by going to the Live Data (last item under the Tools menu).  It should like the UV sensor data as invalid.  If it doesn't then you've got something weird going on with your station hardware.

WeatherCat shouldn't be uploading UV data to the Meteotemplate unless there is valid data to upload.  Does anyone else use Meteotemplate and doesn't have a UV sensor?  It would be interesting to see if this is a reproducible bug.

Cheers, Edouard

Hello monymony,

attached the output of your Live-txt file (above) and mine (below). For that we use both a VantagePro and WeatherCat and Meteotemplate there should be the same output of the files? Maybe Stu can shed some light on this mystery. My UV reading is much earlier in the row than yours.

Thanks guys for looking at this so far and I agree our outputs should be similar.  At least I know I am not crazy and now know where that UV reading is coming from.  Now the question is why?

BTW, that is some serious precision on my temperature reading - "T":19.300000000000000710542735760100185871124267578125  ;D

Hey stranger! Good to see you here.

Do you happen to have this checkbox ticked?

Hi Steve,

Unfortunately, yes I have.  I think all that does is removes the UV setting from the WC Gauges window.  If only the solution was that simple.

Dear Jay, Reinhard, Steve, and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

That's correct.  It is just a display option.

I think we'll need Stu's help on this one.  However, in the meantime, you might post a question on the Meteotemplate thread:

http://athena.trixology.com/index.php?topic=2282.0 (http://athena.trixology.com/index.php?topic=2282.0)

Jachym might know if this is happening to anyone else using Meteotemplate and that might help narrow down the possibilities.

Cheers, Edouard

Hi Edouard,

Post already done, but directly on Meteotemplate's separate forum (http://meteotemplate.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=300&sid=da82f6ac00432faaa1487ad99a6b840f).  It was that post that directed me back to here. [computer]

Thanks!

It's relatively easy to check what WeatherCat is sending (the data you posted above seems to be from a file generated on the server) - to check it, open Meteotemplate (Tools->MeteoTemplate) then click the 'Log Sent Data' tick-box. This will log to the system log the exact data its sending on every transmission.

Wait for it to transmit, then open the Console application (Applications->Utilities->Console.app). Select the 'System Log' in the left hand pane (it may be different depending on your OS version) and look for a line that looks something like:
Code: [Select]
U=1507744609&B=270&W=4.0&G=4.0&H=88&T=9.9&HIN=76&TIN=20.1&RR=1.21&R=7.28&P=999.70&T1=20.5&T2=21.5&T3=15.6&H1=68&H2=59&H3=72&CO2_1=650&CO2_2=865&CO2_3=484&CO2_4=502
This the data sent (this particular example is from a Netatmo station).

If you see &UV=x.x then WeatherCat believes your UV channel is valid and is sending the data (if you don't see &UV, then it isn't sending it). If you do see it, check the Live Data View (Tools->Live Data). If the UV channel is valid there, then your station is sending UV data (and WeatherCat is reporting it).

Cheers.

Thanks Stu!

I did this and do not see anything related to UV:
Code: [Select]
WeatherCat[266]: MeteoTemplate:  ?U=1507753881&B=80&W=1.6&G=3.2&H=77&T=23.0&HIN=50&TIN=29.6&RR=0.00&R=0.00&P=1016.32&S=1746&LW4=0

This points me back to Meteotemplate API as I know now the WeatherCat is working as expected!

Jay
