Da' HARD way!!! (Re: Photographs/Videos of Winter 2016/2017)

Dear Blick, Grand, X-Air, and WeatherCat fans of serious horsepower . . . . .

This is how I had to do snow removal yesterday. We have received 88 inches (2.24 metres) of snow so far this month, containing 3.52 inches (8.94 cm) of water. This is the highest monthly snowfall I have experienced here. Mother Nature is pretty impressive.

Please tell me that's your tractor and you are driving it! I want one! We don't get much snow, but I want one anyway!

My thought was just the opposite!  I hope you don't need to own something like that to live where you are at!

In my book that would be "goin' about it da' hard way!"

When I need adrenaline kicks I'll just take out my 500 horsepower trusty wagon for a spin!

Cheers, Edouard

Ha ha ha. The tractor belongs to my neighbour. He was helping me out of a jam with my wee snowblower. See attached for my normal rig, taken on Christmas Eve before it really started to snow. I had just run over a plastic sled that my granddaughter left out in the driveway to be covered up with 4 inches of snow. Where I was standing in the Christmas photo is now under 6 feet of snow.

Here is something different I will share with anyone who might care. This is a link to a 30-second video that my son took at our place on Christmas Night with his drone. He and I are standing together in two sequences. He shot 15 minutes of footage to come up with 30 seconds of pretty cool winter visuals.

Dear WeatherCat observers of . . . . "Winter" !?!?!??!?  ???

This morning I was taking my daily walk when I saw . . . . this:

No kiddin' those are plum trees blooming.  It is something like 6 weeks early.  Now should this photo go into a new topic for Spring?  Well, here is another photo taken at about the same time:

Even in California we aren't even close to the end of Winter yet.  Moreover, I double-checked the temperatures and as I recalled we are still running about 6˚ below normal for January.  So it isn't warmth and certainly not sunshine that has stimulated these trees to bloom.  So what's left?  My guess is that it the abundant rainfall and probably nutrients that have been washed to the roots by that rainfall.  It is certainly a most surprising development!

Go figure!!

Cheers, Edouard

Is that bent looking object what used to be a gutter? Not sure who that is staring at the roof, but I'd suggest at least a hard hat and maybe an armored vehicle!!

Dear Blick, X-Air, and WeatherCat observers of what the weather dishes out

Beautiful spring photos.

Uh, perhaps that is what Spring looks like in Utah, but it ain't what is supposed to be happening on January 23 in California!

Still winter here. Attached are some action photos of an ice dam pulling down all my gutters and snapping the heat tape cable one week go today.

Isn't it great to have security cameras monitoring the place?  It isn't like you are likely to forget the incident anytime soon, but if you want to relive it, you can just "play it back" anytime you feel like.  Aside for the potential bragging rights, I have a feeling you won't be replaying that video anytime soon!  [banghead]

I do hope the temporary repairs are holding up and that when Spring finally does arrive in Utah, that the permanent repairs won't be too painful.

Cheers, Edouard

Thank you, mate. I wanted to post the video from the security cams, but I cannot find it. I mean, it's there, I just can't find it. I have downloaded it from the Security System DVR, but have no idea how it is named or where the download went. Have searched hi and lo and it remains a mystery. The Manual is written for Windows so no help there. Maybe by Spring...

Did you include "Massive", "Glacial Calving" in your search terms? lol(1) If you're luck, the date/time is embedded in the 37 randomly selected "name". [rolleyes2]
