But I thought Tuscon was . . . (Re: Climate according to WeatherCat?)

Dear Jenna and WeatherCat suitable climate shoppers,

All is well here...we are on a 4 acre plot protected by a forest of pines and birches, so the wind seems LOTS less.

Good to hear!  A natural wind-break is always the best!

This beats the hell out of Tucson ANY DAY!

 [wink] . . . .  But I thought Tucson was a reasonable facsimile of Hell [sweat2]. . . . at least if you needed one in a pinch!  lol(1)

Maine is incredible, so glad to be here.

Thanks for the observation.  Alas, the once placid San Francisco bay area is definitely losing its appeal on about all critera.  It isn't like I can move at the moment, but the temptation is definitely there.

Oh well, . . . . Edouard

What has been the climate for December according to WeatherCat?

Dear WeatherCat observers of the seasons turning,

Another month has gone by so we can all ask WeatherCat what the climate has been compared to past records.  Here is what WeatherCat observed at Canebas Weather Station:

My only initial surprise was that this month has been warmer than previous years.  However, this reminded me that we have had some really cold winters over the past 9 years, so I'll buy that.

So what did WeatherCat observe in your neck of the woods?

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Steve

December was...
Warmer than average (35.7?F versus an average of 34.9)
Dryer than average (2.42 in versus an average total of 2.57)
Calmer than average (a wind run of 2590 miles versus an average of 3623)

In Northern Utah:

December was...
Warmer than average (22.0?F versus an average of 22.0)
Dryer than average (1.63 in versus an average total of 2.21)
Windier than average (a wind run of 2929 miles versus an average of 2800)

Note that when the monthly temperature average is exactly equal to the database average, WeatherCat goes with the adjective warmer.

Dear Steve, Blick, and WeatherCat climate watchers,

Thanks for sharing.  It is interesting that all 3 reports are consistent with dryer than normal at least typical temperatures given the station data.  In the West there has been more wind.

Note that when the monthly temperature average is exactly equal to the database average, WeatherCat goes with the adjective warmer.

 [wink] . . . . But of course!  WeatherCat is after all an optimist.  That is part of its sunny feline disposition! . . . .   [cat] . . . [sun2] . . . . . .  cmu:-)
