Simple Web
« on: January 06, 2017, 05:45:01 PM »
Happy New Year!

As a long-time WC user, I'm in the throes of setting up in a new location. To make startup easier, I want to use the built-in "Simple Web" pages to inaugurate my site for now,

I've search Hi and also Lo, but can't find them. Where are the templates for Simple Web found?

Thanks!

Turn it on or tweak the original design? (Re: Simple Web)

Dear SenorWX and WeatherCat web spinners,

I've search Hi and also Lo, but can't find them. Where are the templates for Simple Web found?

Well, to simply use them you don't need to access the templates.  You can simply turn them on as described on page 96 of the current WeatherCat manual.

You can also assess the templates themselves if you wanted to adapt them in some way, but it isn't as easy at you might expect.  You would need to go inside WeatherCat application bundle to do this.  Is this really what you want?

Let us know, . . . . .

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

There are three basic types of "web sites" that can use be supported by WC:
  • Simple Web
  • various templates
  • Create one yourself with extremely easy to use HTML
There are numerous "templates" that can be found with the search functions here. Some are quite easy to use, others not so much. The built in "Simple Web" is the ... Uhmmm simple steps, no pun intended, of course! Building one yourself is so easy that it can be done by a local grade schooler. But it is also the most flexible in that you don't have to accept anyone's "template".

Dear SenorWX, X-Air, and WeatherCat web spinners,

Yes X-Air, there are a number of templates that come "ready to use" with WeatherCat.  The most common are sticky threads in the web templates topic:

My own humble SeaMonkey template is extremely easy to install:

It could be thought of as a modest upgrade from the WeatherCat Simple Web that doesn't require anything more than a web hosting provider.  I believe all the other templates require setting up and tweaking PHP.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I respectfully suggest your comment varies only in degree and not in substance to mine. ;)
